Shihoko Yonai

Shihoko is a veteran teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching diverse groups of students in Japan and Switzerland.

Shihoko began her ballet training from age 7 at Kurosawa Tomoko Ballet Studio in Japan, and went on to further her training at the Ballettschule für das Opernhaus Zürich in Switzerland. Shihoko was awarded Distinction in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies and is a certified RAD teacher. Shihoko taught ballet intensively for over 10 years in Japan before moving to Switzerland, where she taught students from RAD Pre-Primary level to RAD Intermediate level at the Ballettschule Uster Eva Gasser and Tanz Atelier Milena Nieder Dübendorf.

While still a student, Shihoko won prizes in several ballet competitions held in Japan, including 2nd prize at the All Japan Competition for Young Dancers. Shihoko has a robust portfolio of stage performances, including a guesting performance at the Japan Young Ballett Festival, and has participated in over 30 different dance projects over the years in Japan and Switzerland. Shihoko also received excellent results for her RAD Solo Seal Examination and RAD Vocational Graded examinations, scoring 98 marks for her Advanced 2 exam.

Shihoko graduated from Morioka University, Japan, with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She also has a diploma in Kindergarten and Nursery School teaching. Her studies have equipped her with specialized knowledge in young children’s psychology and needs, as well as the skills involved in providing care to them, and this has greatly benefited her teaching.
