Born in Australia, Yarra Ileto began her dance training in modern and classical at Canberra Youth Ballet School. In 1999, she joined Quantum Leap Youth Dance Ensemble as a pioneer member under the direction of Ruth Osbourne, before relocating to Singapore in 2001.
Ileto graduated top of her cohort with a BA First Class Honours Degree in Performing Arts (Dance) at LASALLE College of the Arts in 2008.
Upon graduation, Ileto joined T.H.E Dance Company, where she performed and toured extensively on international platforms across Asia and Europe. Throughout her professional career, she has worked with renowned choreographers and has also choreographed works for T.H.E Main Company and its youth wing T.H.E Second Company.
In 2015, Yarra joined The Arts Fission Company as Senior Artist. At Arts Fission, she was involved in several community outreach programs. For the last 2 years, Ms Ileto facilitated dance and art classes with children ranging from 3 to 15 years of age, focusing on creative movement and artistic development.
Yarra has guest choreographed for several local Universities and colleges, choreographing well-received works for the LASALLE graduation show in 2013 and 2017. She is currently a part-time lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts teaching ballet, jazz and contemporary dance.
Yarra is the 2017 recipient of The National Arts Council’s prestigious Young Artist Award. Her student, Haruka Chan has also been accepted at the New Zealand School of Dance as a contemporary dance major.
