I love all my ballet classes at CBA. Through the classes, I’ve learnt a lot and grew so much as a dancer. The lessons are fun and interesting. Though they are a little bit tiring at times, I have never thought of stopping. I love to dance because there are always new steps to learn. I feel happy when I dance and dancing energises me.
My teacher always has my best interests at heart. She is a patient and supportive teacher and I’ve learnt a lot from her. I am the dancer I am today thanks to her loving guidance. I love you Miss Ma!
Lanerryn is a timid and introverted girl, afraid to try out new poses and express her thoughts. Her teacher, Ms Ma, showed a lot of passion, teaching her the steps patiently and often encouraging Lanerryn, which played a huge part in building her confidence. Through the years, I’ve seen how Lanerryn has improved with each practice, and gained confidence in herself after every achievement. She only trained for a couple of months but with such achievements made so far, I truly feel that it’s all thanks to Ms Ma, constantly pushing her to her limits to strive for the best.
Hannah started learning ballet in City Ballet Academy about two years ago, and I saw her initial interest in “moving her body to the sound of music” blossom into her growing passion in ballet over time. The learning environment in CBA is very nurturing although students are expected to follow routines and guidelines because of the professional standard set by the Academy. Her ballet teacher, Ms Ma has been Hannah’s “idol” since the first lesson, and her source of motivation to improve on her craft. Over the years her love in dance has broadened to other genres, such that when Jazz classes were introduced at the start of this year, she was excited to be one of the first to join! Ms Charmaine, her Jazz teacher, is always full of energy during lessons, and never fails to make lessons enjoyable for the students.
Hannah has learnt so much over the last two years she has been with CBA. Whether it is ballet or jazz, she always walks out of class with a bright smile no matter how intense the lessons had been. I am looking forward to seeing her develop and mature into a confident dancer under the guidance of her teachers in CBA.
I am very happy to be part of the CBA family. During my time here, I have learnt a lot from my teachers and made many new friends. I am thankful for the opportunities that have been given to me and cherish every single one of them.
Sometimes, the training is difficult and the teachers are strict, but I know that they just want the best for me. I would like to thank the teachers at CBA for all their guidance and patience, especially Ms Ma. Thank you for believing in me!! I promise to do my best always!
I have had great experiences all around. From teachers to students, the high level of teaching and the caring family like atmosphere of CBA are second to none. The teachers at CBA are the best in Singapore, not only in the level of their ballet expertise, but also as they are very caring teachers while being strict and disciplined as well. They have made my daughter to grow as a person and to fall more in love with ballet.
Ms Xia and Ms Ma are very strict with me during lessons. They will do a lot of corrections on my dance moves so that I can improve. Ms Ma is also a very dedicated teacher. I would send videos of my dance to her every night and she would take time to see and comment on the mistakes that I made so that I can work on those areas.
I chose CBA for Yinci to start her ballet lesson because I found out that all the teachers had strong professional backgrounds and I believe this will provide a strong foundation for beginner like Yinci.
Yinci started the pre-primary class in CBA in August 2014 and she is progressing to RAD Grade 4 this year. Under the dedicated coaching by Miss Ma and Ms Yonai, Yinci has developed a love for ballet and we have seen great improvement in her ballet technique and posture.
Since joining CBA, I have improved, strengthen and gained a lot dance techniques, thanks to the teachers. During the classes, there’s a drive of motivation to work harder and there’s also a good relationship between the teachers and the students. Even though the teachers are strict, they still care for you and make sure you improve. Lessons are always taught strictly, but there will be fun times now and then which makes the lessons enjoyable too. I am also very grateful for the programs offered as it also helps to boost my confidence and allow me to gain more experience in certain areas.
My daughter and I are very glad to have the opportunity to work with you. CBA, in my opinion, is one of the highly professional schools that does everything possible for the successful development and growth of its students. THANKS A LOT to all teachers, the principal Ms Xia, and the staff at reception. Sophia has been with City Ballet Academy almost 3 years and she really enjoys it. CBA has provided a wonderful environment for my daughter to learn ballet. Ms Ma is very friendly and she demos everything. She also offers corrections to the entire group and when possible to individuals. Sophia is so happy to be in her group. And for me as her mum, the most important thing is my daughter really “loves” her school.
Skye’s received superb training this past year in the Advanced Elite programme. Her ballet’s improved so much and it’s exciting to think what her ballet future might be. Skye’s goal with CBA has always been to prepare for vocational school, and although at this point fingers and toes are still crossed, it does look like it’s the direction Skye’s headed in and we’re thrilled for her.
There’s a lot of heart and soul in the Advanced Elite programme and it shines through. CBA’s pretty much Skye’s second home and if she could move in, she probably would!
CBA is a professional dance school with professional teachers who has genuine passion in helping students to reach higher for their long-term goals. CBA has provided my two daughters, Colette and Evette, the best possible education and exposure in ballet. My daughters have also learnt to be more persevering in the challenges they face in their daily routine. I am glad that I have chosen CBA above all other dance schools!
Faith switched school after doing ballet classes for 2 years elsewhere. The switch, although to ease family logistic arrangements, turned out to be very enriching and an eye opener for Faith and us parents. The level of standard was set high yet the school was accommodating in reaching out to students of all levels. Faith was in a comparative grade as her previous class but she felt a distinct difference in the teachers’ quality which impacted in her focus in dance.
Ms Yonai is a nurturing teacher who will make every effort to correct and accept all the girls. She has an unparalleled level of patience and reaches out to students and parents alike, with much guidance and encouragement. Besides teaching the girls dance techniques, she tapped on teachable moments to share with the girls about acceptance and teamwork. Those were so evident in moments when the girls prepared for their dance performance.
It was through CBA which my daughter’s focus in dance took on a drastic turn. She was motivated to work hard and be more serious in honing the craft after going through the year end performance whereby she observed a high level of professionalism in teachers and performing students. Through Ms Xia’s understanding and strong belief in an education through dance, she provided professional advice on helping Faith work towards her dreams.
Although at this moment we can’t be sure how Faith’s future in dance may pen out, we deeply appreciate the process where the teachers believe in the child and gave her an opportunity to strive hard and challenge herself.
I have loved ballet since I was 4 years old. Since moving to City Ballet, I have never considered stopping, and always look forward to class, even though it is hard work, tiring and even painful at times. Ms Xia and Ms Park are incredibly supportive, whilst also challenging me constantly to improve. The atmosphere at CBA is both serious and happy at the same time, and I have a lot of fun with my class peers. Competing for the first time this year, both at AGP and TGP, was the best experience of my ballet life thus far. It was amazing the meet both the professional dancers and judges, as well as other committed dancers from around Asia. I dream of becoming a professional ballerina, and dancing full-time. CBA is enabling me to pursue that dream in Singapore. Thank you CBA!
