Joan is a certified teacher for both Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). A strong believer of lifelong learning, Joan constantly seeks opportunities to upgrade and improve her skills. She is a certified trainer for the Progressing Ballet Technique Programme and has also completed the “Inspire series” – a professional development programme by The Royal Ballet School.
Joan has more than 12 years of teaching experience with students from age 3 and up to the pre-professional level. Her students who take part in solo, duo and group dances have consistently achieved top placings in numerous prestigious local and overseas competitions in Classical Ballet, Lyrical, Demi-Character and Contemporary Categories. In 2017 alone, Joan’s students achieved 35 awards for both local and international competitions, including Junior Championship winner at Get the Beat Asia Finals, Teen Championship winner at Get the Beat KL and 1st Prize perpetual trophies for both Classical Ballet and Lyrical categories in the CSTD Singapore Regional Competition 2017.
Joan also coaches and prepares students for the Direct School Admission (DSA) Programme through dance and many of her students were awarded placements in prestigious secondary schools such as School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), Dunman High School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and more.
She has an excellent track record at the RAD examinations with 100% Pass and above.
Joan also graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences and Minor in Technopreneurship.
